Cauterization refers to the process of closing off openings or removal of undesired growths/abnormalities through the use of burn-based technology. Electrocautery, as the name suggests, uses radiofrequency energy to achieve the desired outcome. This form of cautery allows for a more controlled and safe process. Tools used during cautery include cautery pencils, grounding pads, and electrode loops.
